Raiders OC Musgrave not expected to return

1/10/2017 7:00:00 PM
The Oakland Raiders are parting ways with offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave despite having the sixth-ranked offense in the NFL this season.

NFL.com reported that Musgrave has completed a two-year contract with the club and Oakland isn't planning to renew it.

Quarterbacks coach Todd Downing reportedly will replace Musgrave as offensive coordinator.

The Raiders' attack flourished this season under NFL MVP candidate Derek Carr and ranked seventh in the league in scoring offense.

Carr broke his right fibula on Dec 24 against the Indianapolis Colts and the Raiders' fortunes tumbled. Third-string rookie Connor Cook was the quarterback in Saturday's 27-14 wild-card playoff loss to the Houston Texans.

The Raiders are expected to retain defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. despite the unit finishing 26th in total defense.
